PUBLISHING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY

  • By yolandamedinaperez | Fri, 2009-03-20 15:18

For the last two years I have been working on putting together my mother's family history. It started out with an small idea and has grown into an extensive project. The printing of it became too expensive so I decided to go with a power point presentation format. This has allowed me to include many bells and whistles to the book and make copies for my family members. At first I wasn't sure of what to include so I did a "what to include list" and used that as my guide. Next, what did I have, need and what did I want to include... I wanted an interesting cover page for the book and then continued with a
    DEDICATION
    TABLE OF CONTENTS
    iNTRODUCTION
MEANING AND ORIGIN OF OUR NAME/SPELLING VARIATIONS + MAPS
    LINEAGE CHARTS
HISTORY OF WHERE ANCESTORS LIVED INCLUDING
TIMELINES, MAPS, FOTOS, HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE, LISTS OF ANCESTORS, CHURCHES + FOTOS
ARIAL MAPS, IMPORTANT SITES, CEMETERYHISTORY AND FOTO, ( information can be found on the internet & books)
    ANCESTRAL CHARTS
MILITARY SERVICE ( INCLUDE FOTOS, SERVICE BRANCH RANK, YEAR SERVED, MEDALS AWARDED

FAMILY WRITINGS / STORIES by you and other family members
PHOTO GALLERY BY FAMILY & LABLED WITH NAMES & DATES
    FAMILY GROUP SHEETS
FAMILY DOCUMENTS (BIRTH, DEATH, WW1 REGISTRATION CARDS, BAPTISMAL RECORDS,
    IMMIGRATION PAPERS, ETC.
    DNA REPORT
ACKNOWLEDGEMTS LIST OF ALL THOSE WHO CONTRIBUTED
    SOURCES
ABOUT THE AUTHOR/S INCLUDE PHOTO & SHORT BIO

AS YOU CAN SEE THERE IS ALOT ONE CAN INCLUDE WHEN WRITING ABOUT OUR "FAMILIA"
IT'S A PROCESS OF COLLECTING, ORGANIZING AND RESEARCHING, BUT REMEMBER
"iT'S ONLY HEARSAY, UNTIL IT'S IN PRINT" THIS QUOTE HIT HOME WITH ME AND NOW THIS BOOK

    PUBLISHING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY

    Thank you Patty,
I wrote the book  about my mothers family surname SAAVEDRA, which were in Mapimi Durango, then in Santa Rosalia, Camargo then moved to El Paso, Tx. because of the Mexican Revolution.
I 'm afraid I posted my message on the wrong place in ranchos.
If one of the MODERATORS  would please move it to this site I would appreciate it very much.  I had a blast learning power point and learning how I could bring in all sorts of clip art, photos, documents etc.  It's definately worth the time and effort to learn, now all of my family will have a copy of the book "Saavedra Family Genealogy 1600's to XXI Century"
in CD form instead of paper.
Regards Yolanda Medina Saavedra de Perez

    PUBLISHING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY

Joseph, I'm sooooo sorry,  about the confusion.  When I opened my mail the message below didn't show in the "general mailing list"  I assumed that I had posted it in the wrong place. All I wanted was for the message below the one that starts with "For the last two years"  to show in the general mailing list, so that most of the group could read it.  thanks for you help
    Yolanda
