    Hello Nuestros Ranchos Forum,

Could someone tell me what the parents names are on this marriage for Juan Almirante and Dolores Valenzuela:

For me it is difficult to read but it seems the only name I could decipher is hija legitima de Joseph Gregorio Valenzuela con -(Sec'do) del Santisima Concepcion Juan Almirano. - not quite sure what this means.

But in the beginning it names those testigos, but it doesn't seem to name a mother or his parents to me.

    Hi,
Are you asking what it says in Spanish? If so it is saying
"Legitimate daughter of Joseph Gregoro Valenzuela (fathers name) with
(second) Santisima Conception Juan Almirano (name of what reads to be her
mother -her mother's name is long. Now i'm not 100% fluent in Spanish but I
hope this can help some. Maybe others can help as well. ☺

It seems like they don't give parents names for most of these records, but in this one they do mention the father of the bride. I think it says:
"Da. Ma. Dolores Valenzuela hija legma. del difto. D. Jph. Grego. Valenzuela con el Soldo. de esta compa. Juan Almirante. Fueron testigos ....",
    Without abbreviations:
"Doña Maria Dolores Valenzuela hija legitima del difunto Don Joseph Gregorio Valenzuela con el soldado de esta compañía Juan Almirante. Fueron testigos ....".
    Regards,
    Victoriano Navarro.

    Juan Almirante parents

His parents: Simon and Maria Porras.
This information is from the christening record of his daughter Maria de los Dolores Antonia Regina christened Sept. 7 1821.
You can find this record in same film. It starts in image 72 right side, bottom.

    Thanks for this, Joseph,

It will come in handy when people ask me to do their family tree and they submit a list comprised of only "nicknames". I tell them that those are nicknames, what is their real name? And they don't know---"we have always called her 'Chayo', they say. Now I know what it really is.

But remember this was only a portion of nicknames. Margarita's nickname of Mague was not listed nor Chayo or Challo for Rosario to name two.

Sorry, hadn't noticed the second nickname for Rosario. Tita for Marta
or any name that is shortened with ita or Ito. My hubster' first name is Mario and his childhood nickname is Mayito. Marge

I don't see my nickname --- Mili ---for Emilia. I see my sister's ---Licha---for Alicia. She hates being called Licha.
