He estado trabajando con la linea de los Río y de la Loza, específicamente Mateo Río y de la Loza (casado con Ana Vazquez de Mercado y Tapia en Jerez, Zacatecas). Encontré en varios arboles en linea asegurando que sus padres fueron Gaspar del Río y de la Loza y Maria Rodriguez de Gordejuela. O sea que Mateo seria hermano de Rodrigo de Rio y Loza. Ya encontré el testamento de Rodrigo (fechado en la estancia de Santiago, 1604) donde menciona el nombre de sus padres, y el nombre de varios hermanos y hermanas; pero no se hace mención de Mateo. Ahora mi pregunta: ? Alguien sabe cual es la fuente documental para asegurar que Mateo también es hijo de Gaspar (Río de la Loza) y Maria (Rodriguez de Gordejuela)?. I have been working with the line of the Rio de la Loza specifically Mateo Rio de la Loza (married to Ana Vazquez de Mercado y Tapia in Jerez, Zacatecas). I found several trees online stating that his parents were Gaspar del Rio y Loza and Maria Rodriguez y Gordejuela. Would mean that Mateo's brother was Rodrigo Rio de la Loza. Since I found the will of Rodrigo (dated in Estancia de Santiago, 1604) which mentions the name of his parents, and the name of several brothers and sisters; but no mention is done of Mateo. Now my question: Does anyone know what is the source to ensure that Mateo is also the son of Gaspar (Rio de la Loza) and Maria (Rodriguez Gordejuela)?. Thanking you for any information

Can you share where you found the will of Rodrigo Del Rio Y Loza.. I have no wife or family for him but also has Mateo Del Rio Y Loza as the child of Gaspar Del Rio Y Loza and Maria. I do have whatever information I have on them on Rootsweb.com. My file is called Mexico and you can go to the index to find what I have that you might be interested in.I try to put my sources but darn if I don't have one for Mateo!

You are going to read all the names of brothers, sisters,and nephews but not Mateo's name. The will is very important nevertheless. But I still can't find a document to link Mateo to Gaspar (according to what I read on-line Gaspar was Rodrigo's brother). I saw also the same information on line (but without sources) about Gaspar as the father of Mateo, but I still don't want to link Mateo to Gaspar until I can find the source (document).

In Rodrigo's will he mentioned one Gaspar (the nephew) son of his brother Andres del Rio y Loza. But He didn't mention Gaspar "the brother" just Gaspar "the nephew". Maybe Mateo is the son of Gaspar "the nephew". I think the key will be to find Gaspar's will. I hope the information helps. If you find any other information to help with the enigma please keep me posted
