On the marriage certificate for Nicolas de Robclaba y Juana Ruis de Luna, I can read all the information except the name of Juana's mother. It looks like Ma - but then I can't make out the next word. Any ideas are appreciated. It's the certificate in the upper left.

And is anyone familiar with either of these families? I can't find an earlier certificate for Nicolas and Maria Dias, so I don't know who his parents are.

I won't say I'm correct, but looking at the shape of the surrounding letters, it looks like Freide to me, but I've never seen this name before.

That's my guess, anyway. I hope this helps!

Thanks, Rosalinda. I see the first letter as an F also. I actually see it pretty much as you do, but it doesn't make any sense. I try to make it Francisca or some other name that starts with F....

How strange. It really sounds more German. But I see it also.
