Hello, I'm Yolanda. I'm working on my motherside of
the family.
My Grandfather Pedro Jauregui was born 1892 at La
Estancia Zacatecas. I believe it's just outside of
Aguascalientes. His father was Rosalio Jauregui.
My Grandmother Maria Rauno was also born 1890 at La
Estancia Zacatecas. Her parents were C.Canuto Rauno.
Her Mother I believe was Maria Ulloa.I have names of
my Grandfather's brother and sisters. Ignacio
Jauregui married Marina Ulloa, Jacinta Jauregui
married Florenceo Sandoval, Demetria Jauregui married
Celso Jauregui, Macedonia Jauregui married Luis Yanez,
Placida Jauregui married Preciiano Yanez.
My Great Grand Father was Jose Rosalio Xauregui and my
Great Grand Mother was Pomposa Gonzales.
I have come to a stand still since I didn't know how
to find records in Mexico. I happy to be here.

Yolanda, I was born in Nochistlan, Zacatecas, it is 15 minutes away from La Estancia. My family on my father's side originated in LA Estancia. My grandfather was named Jose Legaspi Jauregui, he was born in the same era as your grandfather, its likely that they were related. Have you been to La Estancia or Nochistlan? How much of your research has been gathered from the IGI? My grandfather was light and blue eyed, what did your grandfather look like? Ulloa is also found in my family lines.
The names Jauregui, Legaspi, Lozano, Gonsales, Delgadillo are some of the original La Estancia families. Where do you live? In Los Angeles there is a large La Estancia community.

But I digress... to answer your question regarding IGI...

The IGI is the International Genealogical Index which is the LDS (Church of Latter Day Saints) most comprehensive index of genealogical records. You can access it online through:

http://www.familysearch.org

You will find that link on the Links listing of our website. In addition, you will find that the Films section of our site links directly to the IGI so you can simply find the relevant municipality, type of registry (baptism, marriage, etc) and date and click on a button and it will list all of the names entered into the IGI from the relevant documents. You can then narrow your search by surname, parents' names, etc.

There are some very useful documents in the Files section of the site (under Reference Materials) that explain how to optimize searches on the IGI. That is how I found your grandparent's marriage.

I read your message on Nuestros Ranchos. I found the marriage
record of your great-grandfather in the IGI database (International
Genealogical Index) of www.familysearch.org. I have access to the film it
references so I'll look up the record for you and let you know what I find.

The IGI extract notes that Rosalio and Pomposa were married 3 May
1871 in Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico. A microfilmed copy of the record can
be found on Film # 0226733. Hopefully, I can check it out this evening.

Copies of the films mentioned on familysearch.org can be loaned to a
local Family History Center near your area. To find the one nearest to you,
go to this site:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp

The centers are open to the public and they have volunteers who can
also help you with your research problems. There is no charge to use the
centers, but there is a charge to order the films. However, if you renew
twice (three payments altogether), you basically have paid for the cost of
copying and shipping the film so it stays in your local center on indefinite
loan. That's how I ended up with all the marriage films for Notchistlan
from about 1730 to 1880.

You are such a blessing to us all!!! You taking time out of your busy life
to help dig up info is really appreciated. When I learn how all this film
stuff works, I will try to also share.

Here's how it works:

Find you local LDS church and ask them where you closest Family History
Center is. [Note: you can find the same info at
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp this is the
site that Deena just gave in the email you were responding too]

Once you have found the closest Family History Center give them a call
and go pay a visit [don't worry they won't try to convert you to
Mormonism and the general public is more than welcome even encouraged to
use the facilities]

Ask them how to use the Family History Catalog to find films for your
specific location in Mexico. Once you have identified an interesting
film just dive in and order it. It will cost about $5.50 for the first
30 days rental and will have to be viewed only at the Family History
Center as they don't let you take them out of the building.

When the film comes, in about 3-4 weeks, they will call you. At that
point Drop Everything and safely rush to the Family History Center and
start the new adventure of finding your relatives. Ask them how to
thread the film and view it. After they show you the basics they have
met their responsibility and you will be on your own to do your own
research. Of course if you find something they will help you learn how
to make copies and if you forget how to thread the film or order I'm
sure they will help you a couple of times until you get the hang of it.

Don't delay or what might happen is that the work of finding your family
tree might be left to some future generation. Start today!

I have many records copied for Jose Rosalio and Pomposa thinking that Pomposa may have been Rosalio's first wife. I don't have any information yet to corroborate this. Tomorrow I will be at my local FHC and I will check this marriage record to see if it says anything about a previous marriage or see who his parents were. Some years the marriage records have much information and other years they are missing the parents names or are devoid of additional information.
My Jose Rosalio was the son of Jose Hilario de Jauregui Rovalcaba and Maria Encarnacion de Olmos Gomes. Who knows, we may have a common ancestor with Jose, Rosalio. Looking forward to further communication with you. Hilario de Jauregui Rovalcaba was my GGGGrandfather.

Have you gone onto to the www.familysearch.org website yet? If not, that is your next step and once you start there you are into an amazing genealogical journey.

Alicia The information I have I don't have anything
with the name Olmos or Catarina Olasaba. I will ask my
mother if she knows of those name.

I have both a sister and a daughter named Yolanda. I think it's a beautiful name. The name Yolanda doesn't appear in any records until the 20th century, that is in our region, I don't know about other parts of Mexico and the world.

As for the Olmos and Olasaba, when I photocopied the marriage document for Rosalio Jauregui and Pomposa Gonsalez I was able to verify at least for now that we are not yet related. Who knows if we keep digging back in time we may find some link but for now it appears we are not related.

I found on the IGI these two siblings of your grandmother, Maria Ruano Ulloa. Now all you have to do is go to your local or closest family history center and order matrimonial film # 0226675 for Nochistlan, Zacatecas. See below. and if I take the time to really scan the IGI, I may find more information but here is your opportunity to try it for yourself and feel the thrill of finding your ancestors.

How do you find your local family history center you ask? go to www.familysearch.org, there are 4 tabs on the top of the page titled; HOME SEARCH SHARE LIBRARY, click on library.
On this page you will see just below those 4 tabs where it says; FAMILY HISTORY CENTERS, click on that.

Proceed to fill out the form titled, FIND A FAMILY HISTORY CENTER NEAR YOU. Once you have filled this out it will provide you with your nearest center and the days and hours it's open the address and phone number. You go in and fill out a form requesting your specific films from Salt Lake City, Utah. Depending on your center, the cost to order each roll of film will be $5.50 to $5.75. Also depending on your center it can take from a week to a month to receive the film. You have 4 weeks to view this roll and after 4 weeks you decide if you want to renew it or not. The records on each roll of film are for the most part chronological in order.

There are several ways you can record data from these rolls of film. You can make a photocopy of the document and at my center the cost is .25 cents per copy, It might be different at other centers. You can also use your digital camera to photograph your records and then edit and download to disk or print a copy of each record found. You can also record your data by filling out a form with all the pertinent information. Nuestros Ranchos has forms thanks to one of our very experienced members Kitty Cortez with blank spaces for all the pertinent information. See the forms section of the Nuestros Ranchos website.

Next you have to decide what software you will use to record your data so that you can eventually share it with others. listed in Jose Luis Vasquez y Rodriguez de Frias' book.

My mother, their daughter, was told her father's birth place was La Estancia
and it wasn't until I read Clotilde Quiralte's book that I found out there
were La Estancias de los etc. This is not much information, no doubt, but
how can I find the complete name of La Estancia, at least the one where my
grandfather was born.

Maria Hilaria is my husband's maternal grandmother. Their daughter, Maria Refugio Perez b. 4 July 1903 Rancho Jabonera, Nochistlan married Florentino Corbera on 28 April 1924 in Dinuba, Tulare Co. California.

You may have this info already, but if not in the Cubas' publication at this site address http://biblio2.colmex.mx/bibdig/dicc_cubas/base3.htm. click on the letter "E" in the alpha listing, then type in Estancia. There's info for Estancia, (La), plus others that may help to answer your question..

You go in and fill out a form requesting your specific films from Salt Lake City, Utah. Depending on your center, the cost to order each roll of film will be $5.50 to $5.75. Also depending on your center it can take from a week to a month to receive the film. You have 4 weeks to view this roll and after 4 weeks you decide if you want to renew it or not. The records on each roll of film are for the most part chronological in order.

I apologize, I started a new thread. Forgive me I am new at this. So I also copied my comment to this thread also.

Yolanda:
I am researching Jauregui (Jaurequi, as well as many other variations) My Jauregui's were in San Miguel El Alto records and also Valle de Guadalupe. I have two microfilms coming from the LDS for Valle de Guadalupe, Births 1904-1916 and deaths 1904-1942. If anyone wants me to look for anything in those files, let me know.

I go through the files entry by entry as I have found that the indexes are sometimes incomplete and there are sometimes bonus files outside the LDS dates listed and also I have sometimes pieced together families by looking at the grandparents names and the patrons names on the baptism. Note also, I have found that sometimes LDS microfilms on their online database have only been partially put into the database. So if you are looking online at LDS beware of this. San Miguel El Alto microfilm 0279430 and Batch C603299, I found about half of that film was not online. I know this by trying to search for the records I had found from this film in the online database to make sure I was deciphering the names correctly. So if you are looking through the batches online to view everyone on that film be aware of this. If you do not know how to view entries on a microfilm online by clicking on the batch, let me know and I will send instructions.

I have just started adding my research to the file folders. I do my initial research in Excel and then enter them into a GEDCOM family file. I must convert from Excel to Word without messing up my file too much!!! I prefer entering into Excel files as searching is easier and I can extend the lines almost indefintely. I will check out some of my Jaurequis and try to download that file next for you. I will let you know in the meantime if we have any matches.

I do not have any matches, but to Alice I have some Ruvalcabas that I have not linked to my line which married into the Jauregui line. I will post my file sometime this week and you may look at it.

Hi Maureen. I haven't been online for awhile. I'm going to school and the homework is something else.
I need to make my file to send. I will try during a break in school. I believe there are a few that I'm connected to and it's to exciting. We will just have to see if we are connected. The places you mentioned I never hear of but you never know. Nice to meet you.
